For the second or third time I have again encountered the frustration and embarrassment of having one of my domains parked, and my site unavailable, even though the Domain reg bill was paid well in advance.. Your billing system has hiccups, and some how had failed to register my payment yet again. Surely a 2nd ‘final’ domain expiry warning could be implemented say one or two days before you park? Had this been the case I could have made billing aware of the system failure, and also precluded the embarassing situation where I have to explain to 60 or 70 of my active users that the hosting company has cocked up again. Hostgator is a great company, and I have made professional recommendations to E-Businesses that have taken up Hostgator packages. For them this event would represent a real cost, I’m lucky in that the site that went down is a hobbyist site and as such is not revenue generating.

Does anyone have any idea how to get TS3 on our hosting account? I barely know how to set up the website we have on it. ( I really think I shot something right in the dark when I did it and low and behold it WORKED!…) So this is kinda tough to figure out… Don’t really know where to begin?

Hello, I have a very simple but good suggestion. Even since I have been using your hosting I have wondered why you do not use an SSL on your live chat? I understand using an SSL doesn’t guarantee anything but it’s certainly much better to use. The reason I am suggesting this is because today I had to give my send my password on live chat. :eek: I would love to see this suggestion leading to SSL protected live chat! :gpost: Thanks very much. :thanks:

I’ve submitted this to the feedback email but I’m also posting it here because I feel the community should be able to respond. I know I’m not the only one having these issues. Here is a copy of the email I sent to feedback@hostgator.com : To whom it may concern: I have been a customer with Host Gator for many many years now and have always been impressed with your service. Especially through the live chat system. It has been my experiences with the live chat techs that has made me confident enough in you to be at a point where I now have 2 managed dedicated servers and one separate reseller account with you. Over the course of the last 6 months or so the quality of the help available via live chat has fallen dramatically. They no longer try to help at all. They simply refer you to submit a ticket which takes a long time to get a response to.

I currently have a standard shared hosting plan with HostGator but am planning on upgrading to a VPS Hosting plan ($39.95 plan with $10 extra for cPanel). Someday I may go as far as dedicated hosting but not yet. With an increase in website traffic and emails I need this. The issue is PCI Compliance: I have been told by my bank that they are PCI Compliant, by my gateway, authorize.net, that they are PCI Compliant. Also, I use CRE Loaded 6.4B2B and am told that’s PCI Compliant. I don’t store any credit card numbers on my website. The only piece I’m not understanding is my hosting. I have heard you need dedicated hosting to be PCI Compliant. Then I have heard VPS is, is not. I have heard often that standard shared hosting is not PCI Compliant but also at the same time have heard it is.

Help answer the following email related question asked by admin

I am currently considering switching from another host (Lunarpages) due to a bottleneck that I am currently facing. I am looking at hosting adult content (possibly videos) yet I do not want to start immediately with a dedicated server (With LP you must have dedicated to host adult content). Eventually, if things go well I would upgrade my plan to a dedicated server when I start getting enough people to the website. My questions 1. If I get a basic hosting plan here, is it easy to upgrade from shared hosting to dedicated with just a simple upgrade? As in, I just tell HostGator and they will do everything to make it happen and I do nothing on my part? 2

Ok so i have been fighting for the last 24 hours trying to get Ray Media installed on my server. I have no idea what i am doing, I have never used shell access before in my life but i follow instructions extremly well. I have tried to learn what I could from the FAQ section of the hosting site but I understand what I am trying to learn is a little more complicated than what can be explained in that section. I have tried speaking with the the live chat, i have contacted them twice today. They have always been helpful everytime i have used that service and what i needed was always taken care of or explained to me well enough so that I could go on about my business and get what i was after acomplished. I am not sure if what I am trying to do is a little to complacated for the people answering chat or if they guy that was answering me today (it was the same guy bot times) just didn’t want to deal with my questions but I left chat with a little more knowledge but not much. So I decide to give the forums a try and see if I can learn what I need here.

I have jumped from host to host in the past. This is the first time I have been truly happy with a host. I have more control over my hosting at a cheaper rate than with Godaddy or anyone else.
